Vulcan Basement Waterproofing of
Flushing Inc started waterproofing basements in the New York Metropolitan
area in 1959. When we first arrived on the scene, there was no company
listed in the yellow pages for basement waterproofing; in fact, there was no
listing whatsoever in the Yellow Pages for "basement waterproofing".
Thankfully for the people of metropolitan
New York, Vulcan was able to change that!
In the early and mid 1960 we operated out
of a store front on Parsons Blvd in Jamaica, Queens. The demand for our
basement waterproofing services began to steadily increase, as more and more
people began to realize the importance of having a dry basement and what it
did for the resale value of their homes.
During our early years of waterproofing
basements, Vulcan Basement Waterproofing was the first company to install
French drains on a regular basis. The need for this became more apparent as
our experience waterproofing of homes in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester,
Queens, Bronx, Staten Island and Connecticut proved that you could not stop
water.
We concluded that in order to completely
guarantee basement repairs we would need to deal with all or any kind of
seepage by taking the pressure off the foundation. As a result, french
drains became a big part of our business, but more importantly inspired us
to develop our patented method, called "The Vulcan Pressure Relief System".
Once we discovered this revolutionary way
to do basement waterproofing, Vulcan Basement Waterproofing expanded its
operation to other areas on the East coast such as: Philadelphia, Baltimore
and Washington, and much of New England.

In 1969, Vulcan Basement Waterproofing moved its regional
headquarters taking up an entire block on 76-28 Parsons Blvd . The
relocation allowed Vulcan Basement Waterproofing of New York to fulfill the
basement waterproofing demands of its ever increasing customer base.
We are now celebrating our 50th year in
the same location, and can proudly say that we have waterproofed over 20,000
homes in the New York Metropolitan area.
